What to feed the kitten

Leave water (pre-boiled or bottled) and dry food out at all times.  You may use your preferred brand of Dry Food:  Blue Buffalo, Hills, Royal Canin.  Use the kitten version of the dry food and then later in the future use the adult version.

Wet food is to be fed 2-3 times a day.  The Royal Canin kitten wet food is much healthier for the kitten then regular wet food.  Though kittens often dislike it.  But they love Fancy Feast cat food.  So you would mix the 2 together and serve.

Your kitten should also be fed boiled chicken or fish. The boiled meat must become very soft once finished.   You would then squeeze the meat into chum.  Then you would a little bit of boiled rice to to the meal and mix.

Sometimes you can give your kitten sour cream (regular, not low fat).

The kitten will also want milk.  But you cannot give it cow milk.  So instead give goat milk.

A kitten coming to a new home especially after flights could experience stress and loss of appetite.  And so it's necessary to have in your house some Gerber Baby Food with Meat.  Kittens love it very much and you should give it if you notice kitten isn't eating it's food.

To prevent stomach problem or if first symptoms show, please to every meal add any type of pro-biotics to the kitten's food.  You sprinkle it over the food enough so that you can see it.  I personally use FortiFlora.

To prevent upper respiratory infections or if first symptoms show, then please add to every meal by sprinkling it over the food.   Do not mix it with other additions such as the pro- biotic above.

Have Terramycin as the eye medicine in case the kitten's eye begin to irritate.  This irritation can be due to dust or little pieces of something getting into kitten's eyes.  This could cause other issues with eyes, so wipe eye with a cotton disk and water, then apply Terramycin into eye.

Have Terasil prepared in home in case of Skin issue, which are commonly caught anywhere.  The earlier you start - the easier it is to treat it.    Apply Terasil at 2-3 times a day till the rash goes away.

Outside the food category, make sure kitten is kept in a very clean environment.  While the kitten only has 1 set of vaccines, it is not fully protected and is in risk of catching viruses.  Make sure the kitten makes no contact with shoes, phones, money, or anything that comes from outside.   Make sure family and guests wash their hands before touching kitten.   Try to make sure the kitten doesn't make contact with other pets even if they look healthy, they make still be carriers of viruses.  As the kitten grows, develops it's immune system and received more vaccines, these risks will of course lower down.  Don't forget to do de-worming every 3-4 months even if the cat is kept always indoors.  One a kitten reaches adult hood,  you won't have to worry much, but still good to be cautious.   Kittens are living things and can easily catch simple things such as fleas or rings worms - so have ready any medicine or treatment for such things before it happens.
